Is spring upon us already? With the equinox landing on March 20th, it seems like the perfect time to enjoy our Spring Keto Deer Stew, though those still digging out from snow on the East Coast might feel otherwise. Regardless, this keto-friendly stew is sure to warm you up and leave you feeling invigorated. Crafted with high-quality beef or game meat and enriched with bone broth, this dish is loaded with collagen and essential nutrients vital for maintaining healthy joints, connective tissue, and digestive health.
If wild meat isn’t available, beef stock is a fine substitute, especially in regions where game is abundant, making it a sustainable and healthy choice. This stew is protein-rich, so select the fattiest cuts of meat you can find to stay within ketosis. Both beef and game meat are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are known for their anti-inflammatory properties. For the best results, use a high-quality bone broth like Kettle and Fire.
Wondering about the difference between a stew and a soup? Stews are hearty dishes composed of solid ingredients simmered in a liquid such as water, stock, wine, or beer, and are served with the thickened cooking liquid. Soups, however, have a higher proportion of liquid to solids. And if it’s chowders you’re after, remember they typically include flour.
This dish is also ideal for preparing in a slow cooker on a Sunday, setting you up with nutritious meals throughout the week. And don’t forget to add a generous drizzle of olive oil for that extra touch of flavor!
